There is a configuration in the Skype settings to change the default behaviour. Here’s the easy way to force Skype to close its window when clicking the close button.

Step 1: Open the Skype app. Click on the three dotsand then select the Settingsoption.

Step 2: Select the General tab in the left pane.

Step 3: Turn off the “On close, keep Skype running” option in the STARTUP AND CLOSE section.

That is all! After that, every time you click the close button, Windows OS will terminate the Skype app instead of minimizing it to the system tray. You can click the minimize button to minimize Skype.

Note: Skype loads with Windows 10 by default. If you don’t want Skype to load automatically or start with Windows 10, please follow the below steps.

Prevent Skype From Automatically Loading With Windows 10

Step 1: Open Settings in Windows 10 and move to Apps > Startup page.

Step 2: Turn off the toggle button of Skype. After doing that, Windows will stop Skype from loading with Windows 10 automatically.
